Elisabeth of BerlinThe 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht, "The Night of Broken Glass," passed quietly on November 9th, 2008, all but forgotten. On the same date in 1938, brownshirts in Germany murdered 92 Jews, destroying over 200 synagogues, and thousands of businesses. Between 20,000 and 30,000 Jews were rounded up and deported to concentration camps purportedly because they had "stabbed Germany in the back."

 Michael Thomas recognizes that the Bailout bill that failed to pass in the House on Monday was at best, a compromise. Instead of a 700 billion dollar bailout, Thomas suggests that there is a viable alternative for funding the bailout through the concept of the "Polluter Pays" principle used in Super Fund Cleanup legislation.
